High Intensity Discharge Light Management System
S3 Energy Introduces its
“Light Manager”

S3 Energy’s HID Light Manager – Designed to save energy and reduce maintenance costs.
We guarantee that you will see a minimum 20% savings on your monthly lighting expense or we will provide you with a full refund including the cost of the installation!
What does it do?
- Controls any ballast-based, gaseous discharge lighting system.
- Interfaces with any dedicated lighting circuit of 120, 277, 240, or 480 volts in capacities of 10 to 100 amperes single phase or 10 to 150 amperes three phase.
- Reduces the energy consumption of one, ten, 100 or even 400 lighting fixtures and the savings can be measured within 20 minutes after the lights turn on! Actual energy field savings measurement have ranged from 15% to 40% depending on power distribution conditions, fixture types, age of lighting systems and operating conditions. The unit can be metered at the source and creates no harmonics.
- Works in conjunction with other energy savings devices such as high efficiency lamps, photoelectric switches, and other energy management systems.
- Prolongs the life of lamps and the ballasts by up to 40% by running the lamps at a lower wattage which reduces the operating temperature.
- Reduces maintenance costs because the S3 Light Manager controls spikes, controls and regulates line voltage to induce savings and also prevents over-voltage situations, which are a major cause of premature lighting system failure.
Instant Gratification!
- The S3Energy Light Manager provides immediate energy savings.
- The unit is installed directly at the electrical panel and requires no relamping.
- The individual fixtures don’t even get touched.
- The installation is quick and easy and can be performed by any electrical contractor.
How It Works
The best-kept secret in the industry is that HID lamps require less power to burn than to start.
The S3 Energy’s Light Manager takes advantage of this fact by allowing full power to be supplied only when the lights are first turned on, then reducing the amount of electricity that flows from a lighting panel to individual lamps.
When the lamp is first switched on, it is ignited and stabilized at full voltage. It needs all of the power it is rated for to start. After a pre-determined “warming-up” period of ten to fifteen minutes, the voltage is then reduced.
The lamp will continue to emanate light at this lower voltage, thus saving energy and money with no predictable loss of light.
At the heart is an intelligent microprocessor, capable of sensing the various lamp types, determining the most efficient use for each lamp type, and initiating the proper voltage for each.
The unit is built with a patented magnetic transformer, controlled by a PLC (programmable logic controller). This PLC enables the user to control the lighting levels while maintaining the sine wave, eliminating harmonics and maintaining the proper power factor.
The microprocessor-controlled S3 Lighting Controllers have the ability to control the wattage range in different industrial lighting applications. This includes Mercury Vapor, Metal Halide, High and Low Pressure Sodium and Fluorescent lamps.
